Arrière-plan: The Canadian International Development Agency established the Andean Region Gender Equality Fund Project to work within the Andes Region to advance women’s equal participation, with men, as decision-makers in shaping the sustainable development of their societies. The purpose is to contribute to an enabling environment for women’s participation by strengthening the capacity of government and civil society stakeholders to promote, design and implement gender sensitive policies, programs and projects (i.e. that reflect the needs, priorities and interests of both women and men). The project covers Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, will cost $5 million, and is administered by the Canadian embassy in Peru.
